Jay is passionate about portraiture and the human form, working predominantly in oil on canvas. He strives to portray a narrative that captures a moment in time that is entirely personal to the viewer. Favouring a monochromatic pallet using the absence of colour to evoke an intense and timeless atmosphere.
Jay employ’s traditional oil painting techniques merged with techniques he has developed over years of painting. Each piece takes somewhere between two and four months to complete meticulously blending, scumbling and glazing on multiple layers.
